On Saturday, July 11, 2020 we lost our beloved Patricia Ann McBride-Jordan. Sadly, it’s another case of a book that ended too soon as we were set to celebrate her 62nd birthday on July 12. Since her passing, only a few days ago, we have experienced an overwhelming amount of support through love, prayers, and memories. While we are deeply saddened, we want to celebrate her life as we navigate our grieving process – she wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. A Celebration of Life will occur at a later date once social distancing restrictions are lifted.
Other than being the first born child of Tiney and the late Herbert McBride, sister to Tammy, Melody, the late Sam McBride, the late Alan McBride, Aunt to Sheena, Jason, Chelsea, Taylor and Kyle, Great Aunt to Kollin and Kayden, loving wife to Joe Jordan, loving sister in law to Rose (Rich) Delleva, Arlene (Chuck) Zender, Patty Maniere, Johnny Jordan and Robert Jordan. Patricia will be missed by her nieces, nephews, family and friends.she was much more to her family and friends. Patti was a free spirit and rebel, long before any of her brothers and sisters. She was the sister that was more than happy to “chaperone” a sibling to Daytona Beach, Florida for graduation so they could hang out on the beach with their friends. She had a certain zest for life and loved to entertain and travel. The trip to Florida would have checked all those boxes for her!
She was the aunt that took you on Halloween camping trips, took you on your first flight, to your first concert, introduced you to bands like Green Day, The Cranberries, and one of her personal favorites, Tangerine Trousers! She was also the person that encouraged you to choose your own path, think for yourself, and have all the fun while you were doing it.
She shared a special bond with her cognitively impaired brother in law Johnny Jordan. Johnny became a member of the McBride family early on as Patti and Joe brought him to family birthdays, holidays, and vacations. She often planned her activities and vacations around the things he loved including going on the Boblo Boat, camping in Algonac, and any excuse to sit by the water and watch the freighters pass by. It was her mission to make sure he lived his life to the fullest and enjoyed every second of it: The way she did.
One of Patti’s “happy places” was on the water as either the captain or a passenger on her pontoon boat. She was truly at peace on the lake or the bay, especially when surrounded by the smiling faces of friends and family. Every boating adventure was unique, joyful, and at times, full of surprise. That’s a perfect way to explain Patricia: Unique, adventurous, joyful.
We are extremely grateful and humbled by the outpour of messages we have received and want everyone to know that it does not go unnoticed, even if we don’t reply – it all helps in times like these. Keeping with the spirit that Patricia embodied to her family, we encourage people to comment on this message with some good memories you shared with Patti, whether it was in your youth, 20 years ago, 2 years ago, or 2 weeks ago. That way we can always look back on this day and be reminded of the celebration of her life and all that she meant to people.
Memorials appreciated to American Heart Association and American Lung Association.
