Peter Morrison, a man of steadfast kindness, passed away on April 6 at the age of 83. Known for his gentle strength and his tireless commitment to helping others, he leaves behind a legacy of service to span generations.
Graduating from Wayne State University with a master’s degree and going on to study for his doctorate, Peter dedicated his career to the students of Warren High School, where he served for nearly 40 years as a tireless advocate for special needs children and teens. Peter’s impact on "his kids" was immeasurable.
Born and raised in Detroit to George and Margaret Morrison, Peter grew up with his older sister, Mary. He inherited a love for cars from his father and a deep compassion for children from his mother.
In 1968, Peter met the love of his life, Sandi, at church. They were united in marriage in 1969 and shared 58 years of unwavering partnership. Together, they raised two children, Dee and Dan.
Peter welcomed his children’s spouses to the family, enjoying spirited political discussions with son-in-law Rick, and sharing unlimited private jokes with his daughter-in-law Rochelle.
An avid car enthusiast, he was never prouder than when showing his award-winning Thunderbird convertible. Above all, he was a devoted father and a doting "Papa" to Alex, Grady, and Grant.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra; children Dorothy Albin (Rick) and Daniel Morrison (Rochelle); and his three grandsons: Alexander Morrison, Grady and Grant Albin.
Peter was a man of quiet wisdom and late-night advice—a steady hand who guided his family through life with love, kindness and gentle humor.
