Throughout a long and meaningful life, Raymond was known for steady courage, a tireless work ethic, and a kind-hearted way of being with others—qualities that were matched by the quiet wisdom he carried into his roles as a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.
Raymond attended and graduated from Lakeshore High School. He later enlisted in the United States Army, answering the call to serve with the same resolve and dependability that shaped so much of his life.
Raymond was the loving husband of 46 years to the love of his life Helen. He was the father of Sandra (Daniel) Roland, Barbara (Herman) Jeffries, Bruce (Kimberly) Walerzak, and Raymond (Kimberly) Stevens Jr. He was a cherished grandfather to Gary Ramsey, Donald (Melanie) Ramsey, Deanna Ramsey, Jason (Dawn) Walerzak, Amanda (Fiancé Nathan Stolz) Glaub, and Elizabeth Stevens. He was a great-grandfather to Riley, Timothy, Isabella, Donnalla, Jessica, Jennifer, Jacob, Jacqueline, Ava, Mason, Kali, Lexi, and Liam. Raymond was the dear brother to Jerry Stevens, Patricia Yoe, and Diane Phillips. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his siblings Larry Stevens, Judy King, Donald Stevens, Mickey Stevens, and James Stevens.
In his personal time, Raymond found joy outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing, and he liked to ride his 3-wheeler through the woods. He also valued time shared with those he loved—taking many family trips to national parks across the 50 states in the U.S. and enjoying the simple gift of being together with family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm, at the funeral home.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, beginning with a gathering at 9:00 am until time of service at, 10:00 am, at Kaul Funeral Home 28433 Jefferson Ave., St. Clair Shores, Michigan 48081.
Raymond will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township. With military honors to be held at the cemetery honoring Raymonds honorable service and sacrifice for his country.
