Better known as Bob, he was born on June 16, 1950 in Mt Clemens, MI to Elmer and Peggy Belknap. Bob was a Vietnam Veteran, having joined the U.S. Navy after high school serving as a radar electrician. Bob began his civilian career as an electrician at MNP before his hiring at Chrysler where he started as a skilled trades electrician. Later, he become a skill trades supervisor, then Area Manager Maintenance and Manager of Plant Maintenance before retiring in 2012.
He was a jack-of-all trades and was the one everyone sought out when they needed help with home projects. A hardware store aficionado, he loved bargain shopping at ACO, Harbor Freight and Menards and would never pass up a “free” coupon for a tape measure, flashlight, or anything else. Bob was also a year-round fisherman and avid bowler for many years.
As a devoted grandfather, he enjoyed spending time with his grandkids; watching them swim, making sure they had enough water balloons for the pool, taking his grandson Caeden to a local car show and watching granddaughter Mckennah perform gymnastics.
Bob is survived by his wife of 39 years, Cathy (Moore), daughter Nicole (Bryan) Amara, son Ryan, his mother Peggy, sister Janice, grandson Caeden and granddaughter Mckennah. He is preceded in death by his father Elmer and sister Eva.
He was loved and will be missed by all.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2020 from 3:00-8:00pm at Kaul Funeral Home, 28433 Jefferson Ave., St. Clair Shores.
