Robert (Bob) Henry Kasom, Jr., age 80, passed away on October 13, 2026. Born on January 19, 1946, to parents Robert and Mary Kasom. Robert grew up and lived in St. Clair Shores and was a current resident of Harrison Township, Michigan.
Bob was a 1964 graduate of Austin Catholic High School where he often reminisced about the fun and mischievous behavior he took part in with his classmates.
If Bob would write his own obituary it would be summed up in the business card he created many years ago:

Bob was very witty and funny and could always be counted on for a good hearty laugh. He also had a serious side and loved to read and learn about many topics including world and American history. He liked to spend his down time watching western movies, the Red Wings, Tigers, and Lions and listening to authentic old-time country music like Hank Williams, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, and the like. He was a creative master gardener and landscaper, known not only for his true vision in design but also for the depth of his knowledge — down to the Latin names of every plant and tree.
Bob’s life was also shaped by curiosity and adventure. He was a master diver who loved to dive and teach diving to others, including his nieces Caroline, Danna and Kelsey. He took dive trips all over the world including the Galapagos Islands, Chuuk (Truk) Lagoon in the South Pacific, and his favorite place, The Rose Garden Reef in Grand Bahama.
As a child and an adult, he enjoyed building model airplanes and aircraft carriers. He also played baseball, football, and hockey with hockey being his lifelong sport. He made many great friends and memories throughout his youth and adult hockey career. One in particular, was a game between his Sherwood Forest team and the Red Wing Old Timers. The Old Timers were not happy about being behind and eventually Alex Delvecchio started a brawl which ended the game early. However, the brawl continued in the parking lot.
Bob is survived by his children Tracey Kasom, Derek Kasom, and Jesse (Michelle) Kasom. He was grandfather to Christopher (Elizabeth) McDonald, Mark McDonald, Jessica Kasom, Kaitlin Kasom, Grace Kasom, Lindsey Nevison, Anna Nevison, and Julia (Derek) Loewen, and a great-grandfather of four. He was a dear brother to Mary Lou Defer, Theresa (Tim) Theisen, and Daniel (Rosann) Kasom. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and will be missed by his dear friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his son Robert Patrick Kasom, and sister Suzanne Kasom.
