Rose Marie Richards

Rose was a devoted wife and mother whose laughter and song brightened all our lives, and who was joyful as our family grew with the arrival of every grandchild, great-grandchild and great great-grandchild.

She was a wonderful homemaker whose apple pie and chocolate chip cookies are legendary, and who every year tended a garden that was as lush as her love of her family. She stepped into the work force as her children grew. For nearly twenty years she served as the executive secretary to Peter Stroh of the Stroh Brewing Company.

Our mother and father enjoyed a love affair that was passionate and caring for sixty years. It was as strong at the end as it was on the day they met.

They both served their family and friends with untold love and generosity and never turned away anyone in need.

She was born in Detroit, Michigan to her late parents Joseph and Alice Karlowski. Rose was preceded in death by her beloved husband John H. Richards. She is survived by her loving children: Rose M. Richards, John (Michele) Richards; dear grandchildren: Rick Williams, John Michael Richards, Ava Rose Richards; caring great-grandchildren: Samantha, Joshua (Jenna); great-great grandchildren: Alexandra, Amelia, Charles, Jorgia, Serenity; and many loving nieces and nephews. Rose was also preceded in death by her siblings: Alice, Dorothy, and Joseph.

Visitation, Friday, January 16, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Kaul Funeral Home, 28433 Jefferson Ave., St. Clair Shores. Funeral service, Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
