Born on September 16, 1952, to Margaret (Dodd) and Leo E. Francis in Detroit, Michigan, Mike grew up in the area and graduated from South Lake High School in St. Clair Shores in 1970. Shortly after, he found his professional home at General Motors, building a long and dedicated career within the GM Legal Department until his retirement.
Mike truly cherished his retirement years, dedicating much of his time to his family and his passions. He was an avid Detroit Red Wings fan who rarely missed a game, bringing that same loyalty and enthusiasm to his role as a beloved uncle. He loved being a central part of the lives of his many nieces, nephews, and later, his great-nieces and great-nephews, who lovingly knew him as "Uncle Mike."
He is survived by his brother, Leo (Sharyn) Francis; his nephews, Geoffrey (Laura) Francis, Jason Francis, and Michael Vienneau; and his niece, Jennifer Hillyer. He also leaves behind his beloved great-nephews, Alex, Jordan, and Jaxxon Francis; and great-nephews/nieces, Callie, Alanna, and Summer Francis, Alyssa Hillyer, and Haylee Vienneau. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Leo Francis, and his great-nephew, Tristan Francis.
