Thomas Paul Schreiber, 90, of St. Clair Shores. Died July 15, 2014, at Shore Pointe Village Assisted Living.

Tom was born on March 5, 1924, the last of four children of Peter Schreiber and Mary Daly Schreiber. Tom graduated from Notre Dame University in 1946, where he majored in physics and played center on the football team. He went on to receive a master’s degree in physics from the University of Michigan. On June 2, 1953, he married Marjorie Glynn, and they enjoyed fifty-eight years together until her death in August 2011. Tom was a well-respected sailboat racer, captaining his Cal 25 the Annie Mayme on Lake St. Clair until the age of eighty-five. Over a lifetime of racing, he won too many times to list. Tom and his son Paul won the Cal 25 National Championship in 1991, which was the same year he joined Bayview Yacht Club. (Previously he had been a member of North Star Sail Club in Mt. Clemens.) He was Bayview’s Sailor of the Year in 1999. Tom sailed as a crew member on over fifteen Port Huron to Mackinac races, including a ride one year on the winning J41.

In addition to his wife, Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Fred and Jack, and his sister, Margaret O’Hara. Paul, Mary, Anne and John,

I am so sorry to hear that your dad passed away. I had many nice conversations with him last summer at my mom's and his breathing rehabilitation classes. Take care.
