William Frederick Lorenz, age 90, of St. Clair Shores, Michigan passed away on November 17, 2022. He was born on June 12, 1932, to the proud parents of William and Winifred Lorenz. Bill was a 1950 graduate of Southeastern High School. He lettered in track all four years and received "All City" honors his junior & senior year. He continued his track career at Albion College before transferring to Michigan State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
Upon, graduation, Bill enlisted in the Army and spent 2 years as a part of a team perfecting and producing the Redstone Missile. After his time in the service, Bill worked as a Civil Engineer for the Wayne County Road Commission until his retirement in 1984. Bill was an engineer by day and an artist by night. He loved photography and oil painting and won many awards in both mediums.
Bill served as the President of the Grosse Pointe Camera Club, Grosse Pointe Artist's Association and Grosse Pointe Senior Men's Club. Bill also enjoyed music and was a member of the Grosse Pointe Community Chorus and the Livingston County Chorale. He spent many years in Milford before returning to the eastside to be near his family.
Loving father to Christine (Michael) Dinverno and Colleen (Kevin) Ohannessian. Cherished grandfather to Kristina (Charles) Kaiser, Nicholas (Trisha) Dinverno. Great-Grandfather to Michael Kaiser, Vivian Kaiser, Charlie Kaiser, Ethan Dinverno, Nick Dinverno Jr. and Joseph Dinverno. Dear uncle to Wesley Pollitte and Robert Pollitte.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 19, 11:00am at Milford United Methodist Church, 1200 Atlantic St., Milford, MI 48381.
Interment will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date.
