

BAKER, Calvin Orville (“Cal”) passed away on May 9, 2013 in Folsom, California at age 89. Born December 19, 1923 in Oakland, CA and raised in St. Helena, CA. Parents were Howard C. Baker and Lucy Isabelle Mooney. Graduated from St. Helena High School in 1941. He served in the Navy in WW II on submarines, and was a life member of the Submarine Vets of WW II. He retired after 35 years from the Pacific Telephone Co., was a 50 year member of Carmichael Presbyterian Church and Masonic Lodge #609 F&AM. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite, Ben Ali Temple, Carmichael Elks Lodge 2103, AT&T Pioneers and the St. Helena Historical Society. Passing before him were his parents, brother Elmer Baker of Boulder Nevada, and his first wife Evelyn Arthur Baker. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Jenkins Baker, four children Constance Hill and Calvin Baker (Jr) both of Texas, Carla Baker of Folsom, Judith Baker of San Francisco, 4 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 14 at 12:00 pm at Morrison Funeral Chapel (975 Vintage Avenue in St. Helena) followed by a graveside service at the St. Helena Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Sacramento, Scottish Rite Language Clinic in Sacramento, or a charity of personal choice.
