Catherine Renschen

Catherine Ida Renschen passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the age of 89. She was born to John and Mary Renschen in Newport, Ky. on November 12, 1922. The family moved out to California and eventually settled in Vallejo. Cathy worked at Mare Island for almost 30 years as an administrative assistant. Cathy and her sister Mary moved to Pope Valley in the early 70’s after their re-tirement and finished building their home which they started with their dad, doing their own electrical, plumbing, sheet rock and cabinetry. They were both extremely talented and could easily reupholster their sofa as well as build a cement fish pond on their patio.

As sisters, they enjoyed each other’s company and did everything together. Cathy’s loves were her pets, of which she had many throughout the years. She enjoyed playing board games and cards and had a fun sense of humor. She will be remembered for her kindness and generosity of spirit. She was pre-deceased by her parents and her sister. Friends are invited to attend a funeral mass on Monday, March 26, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the St. Helena Catholic Church, 1340 Tainter St. in St. Helena Private burial will be at St. Vincent Cemetery in Vallejo. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Helena Catholic Church. We’d like to thank Lupe and Artemio for their loving care of Cathy in her last years.
