

He was born May 13, 1921 to Emma and Edward in Alberta, Canada.
He was a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force, serving as a radar technician for
three years.
He began his career in education in a small one room school in Alberta. He began his academic work at the University of Alberta, receiving a bachelor degree. Then on to the University of Oregon for a Masters degree. He taught in Portland public schools for five years. He continued his education at Stanford University where he received his Doctorate in education. He then became curriculum director county schools in Yolo County. He was a professor of education at California State University, Hayward for 23 years.
He retired in 1983. He was active in curriculum activities to many school districts. He was co-author of “Geography In Teaching of Social Studies”.
Gordon retired to St. Helena in 1980. He served as a board member and president of Napa County Land Trust. He was a wine buff. An active member of the Home Winemakers Club. Gordon loved golf and gardening. His first wife Marion passed away in 1996. He was an active member of St. Helena Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife Nancy and sister Irene Arnold of Portland Oregon.
In lieu of flowers donations are requested to Marion Davies Endowment Fund of St. Helena Catholic School, Oak Street, St. Helena.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Helena Catholic Church on Wednesday January 11th at 11:00 am. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery
