James Lowry Davis, born August 24, 1940 in Rosedale, Oklahoma to Samuel and Gladys Davis. Passed away suddenly at his home at Lake Berryessa on September 26, 2011. Jim Survived by his wife Janet, sons Bill, Lee, and Jimmy, 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings Joe, Paul, Doris, and Sammie of Oklahoma. Jim was a true cattleman and was always there to help anyone who needed help. Jim had been a cattle rancher in the Berryessa area for years, starting as a young man coming from Oklahoma looking for work. He began as a wrangler for the Gamble Ranch in 1959 - Eventually running his own herd of cattle. He is credited with teaching many new to the cattle business the ropes and has long been valued for his advice and quiet easy way with people. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Pope Valley cemetery on Barnett Road. Following the services there will be a potluck gathering at the Ropers and Riders Arena on Barnett Rd. Arrangements under the direction of Morrison Funeral Chapel, St. Helena, CA.
