Lee Roy “Pop” Kenyon, 87, born February 24, 1925, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2012. He was born in Vallejo, CA to William H. and Maude True Kenyon, who preceded him in death. Lee was Class President of the Vallejo Senior High School Class of 1943. Shortly after graduation, he married the now deceased Colleen Whitt. He was drafted into the Army in the Fall of 1943 and served in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign until the Spring of 1946. He attained the rank of Sergeant and was awarded the Bronze Medal of Honor, was a Rifle Expert and was awarded several other medals. Lee was a proud member of the VFW and the American Legion. After returning home, he was a meat cutter and loved hunting, fishing, horses and cooking. He was also a restaurant owner of The Burger Shop in Vallejo. Lee was an active member of the First Baptist Church and coached the youth basketball team. In 1962, the family moved to Calistoga, CA. Pop was loved by his family and friends and will be missed by all. Lee is survived by Nellie his loving wife of 39 years, his children, daughter, Carolyn (Rick) Mead of Oregon, a daughter Sharon (Damian) Parra of Calistoga, a daughter Jeanette (Dan) Montelli of Calistoga, a daughter Janice Kenyon of Santa Rosa, CA, a son David (Janice) Kenyon of Santa Rosa and a daughter, Susie (Tim) Moore of Calistoga, Lee had 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Lee’s brother Ralph Kenyon of Vallejo along with several nieces and nephews also survive. Lee was preceded in death by his brothers Harold and Elwin and a grandson Andy. Family and Friends are invited to attend any of the following services honoring Lee: a visitation on Sunday, June 3, from 4-7:00 pm at the Morrison Funeral Chapel, 975 Vintage Ave., St. Helena; a Military Honors Ceremony at the Dixon VA Cemetery in Dixon on Monday, June 4, at 1:30; and a Memorial Service at the Community Presbyterian Church, 1407 Third St., Calistoga on Monday, June 4, at 4:30.
