He was a loving son, brother, nephew, uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend to many.
David is predeceased by his parents Gilbert Gerald St-James and Mary Veronica Main. He is survived by his siblings Shirley Beverley Snow (James), Donald Douglas St-James (Christianne), nieces Joanne, Kimberley (Matthew), nephews Jeff, Peter (Wanda) and James (Polina), grand-nephews, an uncle and cousins.
David was born at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal, on September 12th, 1936. He attended Rosemount (Nesbitt) Elementary School and Rosemount High School. David worked at The Northern Electric Co. from 1953-1956 where he met the friends who would become his bandmates in "The Clover Boys." They travelled and played extensively throughout southwestern United States during the 60's and 70's. Returning to Canada in 1977, David and his group worked around Montreal and spent six seasons at the Mont Tremblant Lodge ski resort.
He was a man of many talents. After retirement from the band, David settled in St-Constant, Quebec, where he was the caretaker for his parents and aunts (Olive and Violet). He would develop a business video-taping and producing professionally edited videos of weddings and other special occasions. He worked at a movie video store and as an extra on movie sets. He was involved in beekeeping, woodworking and stamp collecting.
David had the ability to make people smile, laugh and feel good about themselves. He was the life of the party and he knew how to make an entrance.
David loved his family and friends very much. If there was anyone they could count on, it was him. He was always the one in the front row cheering on all of his nieces and nephews at any event while recording the happenings with his video camera.
He loved golf even though he would laugh at himself and say he had “no clubspeed”. To him it was about the people he was playing with, encouraging each other to do well and enjoying the scenery.
It's been a slice of heaven for anyone who had the privilege of knowing him and he left us with these famous last words "It's toodeloo time..."
Until we meet again in Heaven.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date with close family and friends.
