I always felt uncomfortable in my own skin like many teenagers, I'm not sure if I ever got over this. Donnie was the rare really popular kid that made everyone feel like they belonged. It didn't hurt that he had a great sense of humor. Everyone wanted to be around him. Even now much later I think of him often and remember this whole thing is pretty short.  

We knew Donnie in elementary and highschool and were very saddened to hear he passed away. We remember him as a very outgoing and popular student.  We are sorry we could not pay our respects in person but we no longer live in the area.  Please accept our sincerest condolences to family and friends.  Kim and Karen (the twins).

Donnie was larger than life...when he walked into a room you definitely knew he was there.  His tough guy act and big mouth often got him into trouble....but for those lucky enough to get to know him, he was just a pussycat.  He truly was one of a kind, a caring, sweet, gentle young man....R.I.P. Donnie you will be greatly missed.






I knew Donnie from 1990 onwards. If you went to Centennial at that time you knew who “Donnie Hynes” was in your first week. Donnie had a magnetic personality mixed with a sharp sense of humour. 
I remember coming back to GPK after leaving for Toronto and if we bumped into each other he would never come up quietly and make impersonal conversation...he would be a street or more away and would yell out my first and last name....It always made me laugh. I think he did that for a lot of people. Made you feel good to be catching up and sharing a laugh with an old friend. He will always be part of some of the best memories of growing up in GPK. I would like to express my sincerest condolences to the family in this difficult time.

We met Donnie on a few occasions when  he was high school friends with our daughter Andrea.  On one occasion, we were searching for our daughter when we saw Donnie.  He told us not to worry, he would find her and make sure she got home.  He did, and she came home safely!  

We will always have warm and fond memories of  him. 
It was truly a sad day when we heard of his passing.

I’d like to take a few moments to say that Donnie is a kind, funny soul who was always nice and respectful.  He is fun loving and a good guy.  Having gone to school at CRHS with him I want to express my utmost support and condolences to all families/parties involved who are dealing with this loss.  I can’t be there in person as I am in Ontario so please except my respects this way.  You have crossed to the other plain much too soon I know your spirit lives on in peace and joy! My sincerest condolences to the Hynes family on the loss of such a special person. I coached Donnie for several years when he played for the Bantam and Midget Packers and knew him as a fun-loving yet dedicated player. He knew when to fool around to loosen the mood and when to buckle down and play hard. I'm sure this combination of abilities made him so well-liked and therefore adds to the sorrow of so many. 

Your family has much to be proud of and I hope that helps on such a sad occasion.

I grew up with Donnie and Jaime, and have many memories with them, but I'll always remember a special bond with Donnie that we would still reminisce about throughout our lives.  When I was the 93 Bantam centre and he was the QB, we would get the play in the huddle, and I knew when we got to the line, if he gave me the quick tap on my thigh he wanted a quick snap to run a QB sneak.  He would always fool the defence and get some good yardage everytime.   Years later we would always laugh about running the 'Tap and Go' 
When my older brother Mike had gotten sick, Donnie had reached out to me and he was very familiar with what Mike was going through, because of him dealing with the same sort of things at work, and he was a big help with me coping with the situation, and I was very grateful for him doing that.  Donnie was a great guy, he will definitely be missed, my love and condolences to the Hynes family, and all of Donnie's loved ones.

Donnie was my rock when I worked at Central Park Lodge.  No matter what the confusion he would always run to my aid and straighten it out.  Even after I left and opened my own Residence Donnie would pop in on his way home from the Lodge for a visit so we still remained  friends.  I haven't seen you this past year and for that I will now be eternally sorry.  You were always there with a smile whenever you were needed and you will forever be missed.

I have known you as a young laddie Donnie and will miss you forever.  Our home was your home , your deep caring heart, your loyalty to friends and never to be forgotten your great sense of humour , oh my how you could make me laugh. Wherever you are , you are  sure to have everybody laughing. It is like going on a cruise boat , waving goodbye to everyone on land  that cares for you and then arriving  at your destination and those that passed before you are waiting  to hold you in their arms.  I will hold you in my heart forever. 

I met Donnie a few years ago, he was always polite and caring and when I was moving he was one of the first to offer help if it was needed, 2 years ago when we needed help again, I called Donnie and he left work after his day was finished and came right over!!  Thanks Donnie, you will be remembered!!!

From growing up at the Packer field to working together at the Lodge I have so many memories of Donnie that I will cherish for as long as I can.  I am still in shock over his passing as I am sure everyone who knew him is : my heart & thoughts go out to you Candice, Barry, Jamie and the whole Hynes family.  He truly was an amazing person who always had the biggest contagious smile on his face and will be missed.
May the memories of times spent with him give you all the strength to get through this difficult time.

Whenever Donnie was around, he'd find a way to include everybody; he was concerned about the shy people and the outsiders.  I think that's a mark of a sincere, empathic person.
I met him a lot in my childhood and think fondly of him. My condolences to the family and to his friends.
