Dr Gildo Renzi

C’est avec une très grande tristesse que nous annonçons le décès du docteur Gildo Renzi survenu le 1er Juillet 2024 à l’âge de 93 ans. Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse Marcelle Cardinal, ses enfants, Paolo (feu Suzanne Crawford), Dani (Nathalie Jutras) et Sylvain (Kary Solis Lopez), ses petits-enfants, Robert, Évelyne, Mélanie, Vincent, Frédérique, Jonathan et Shayne et les arrière-petits-enfants (Liam, Éli et Jaxon).

Né à Montréal, il a gradué au Collège Loyola puis a obtenu son diplôme en médecine de l’Université de Montréal avec Grande Distinction. Il a obtenu ses spécialisations en médecine interne, en pneumologie puis il a parachevé sa formation au Johns Hopkins de Baltimore, avec une formation complémentaire en endoscopie à Paris.

Il consacra sa vie à la médecine en pratiquant à l’Hôpital Notre-Dame de 1960 à 2007 et fut le fondateur du Laboratoire de Fonction Respiratoire à cette institution. Fort apprécié par ses patients, il a toujours démontré beaucoup de compassion. Il a contribué à l’avancement de la médecine avec son enseignement en plus de ses projets de recherche et de nombreuses publications.

Un homme discret, généreux et délicat, d’une grande culture, mélomane averti, qui aimait sans condition. Il adora sa femme et ses enfants jusqu’à la fin de sa vie.

Il restera à jamais dans l’esprit et le coeur de ceux qui l’ont aimé et ceux qui ont eu la chance de l’avoir croisé sur leurs chemins.

Selon ses volontés, il n’y aura pas d’exposition.

La famille recevra parents et amis en présence des cendres à l’église Saint Thomas D’Aquin, 311 Rue St-Thomas, Saint-Lambert QC le samedi 20 juillet à compter de 10h suivi d'une cérémonie simple, bercée de musique à 11 heures.

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Doctor Gildo Renzi on July 1rst, 2024 at the age of 93. He leaves to mourn his wife Marcelle Cardinal, his children, Paolo (late Suzanne Crawford), Dani (Nathalie Jutras) and Sylvain (Kary Solis Lopez), his grandchildren, Robert, Évelyne, Mélanie, Vincent, Frédérique, Jonathan and Shayne and great-grandchildren (Liam, Eli and Jaxon).

Born in Montreal, he graduated from Loyola College then obtained his medical degree from the University of Montreal with Great Distinction. He obtained his specializations in internal medicine and pulmonology and then completed his training at the Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, with additional training in endoscopy in Paris.

He devoted his life to medicine, practicing at Notre-Dame Hospital from 1960 to 2007 and was the founder of the Pulmonary Function Laboratory at this institution. Much appreciated by his patients, he always showed great compassion. He contributed to the advancement of medicine with his teaching in addition to his research projects and numerous publications.

A discreet, generous and delicate man, of great culture, knowledgeable music lover, who loved unconditionally. He adored his wife and children until the end of his life.

He will forever remain in the minds and hearts of those who loved him and those who were lucky enough to have crossed his paths.

According to his wishes, Dr. Renzi will not be exposed.

The family will receive relatives and friends in the presence of the ashes at the Saint Thomas D’Aquin Church, 311, Rue St-Thomas, Saint-Lambert QC on Saturday July 20th at 10 AM. A simple ceremony filled with music will follow at 11AM.
