Survived by his sons, Carl (Amy), Keith (Anne), John (Diane), Brian (David); his step children Sylvie, Paul, Précilla, Serge; grandchildren, Carl Jr., Liam, Caitlin, Kyle, Kelly, Stacey, Samantha, Tommy, Anthony, Alexandra; his great-grandson Spencer; his sister Madeleine; his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by wives Rita and Joyce; his parents John and Olga (Stenberg); his siblings Ted, Otto, Olaf, George, Belham, Eva, and Ruth. Dad/Pops/Pappi/Gramps chuckled and charmed his way through life, always finding humour in everyday joys and trials.
He was an avid fan of fishing, hockey, sports of all kinds, nature and hard work. But above all, he was an avid fan of his children, their spouses, his grandchildren, great-grandchild, his siblings, nieces, nephews and all of their loved ones. Renowned for his generous heart, fairness of spirit, strong independence and frugal wallet, Jimmy’s abundant and infectious humour touched people every day in every walk of life.
Jim’s love for life and unwillingness to give up made him legendary for overcoming multiple health issues over the years. Gramps came from humble beginnings in Rosemont, ever grateful for all that he had. He regaled us with stories of mischief and mishaps, always reminding us that his glass was half full - even better if it was half full of scotch (preferably one on sale).
A private gathering for family will be held in the future.
