Jane Wigglesworth (nee Allen)

August 27, 1937 ~ February 4, 2024

Our dear Jane was born August 27th 1937 in London, England, Jane passed away without any sign of distress to join Our Lord on February 4th 2024. She was enjoying a swim with her husband David Wigglesworth while on holiday in Antigua.

As a remarkably talented art teacher, Jane met David Wigglesworth, now her retired architect husband, whom she married in her home town of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire on April 18th 1964. In 1965 they left England with their baby son Michael, to live in Montréal where their daughter Susan was born in 1971. Susan later married Sébastien Dubois and have two daughters, Éliane and Amélie, who are now students at the Université de Montréal and at Dawson College. Jane also leaves her younger sister Philippa, who is married to Patrick Sarsfield Hall, an active farmer.

Jane was passionate about sharing the love of our Lord with others as a loyal servant of God. She was dedicated to loving and caring for her family, friends, and community. She was trained at Manchester University and taught art in a girls’ grammar school in London, taught at the Préville Fine Arts Centre and exhibited her work in many galleries. She also enjoyed a career in puppetry, and many handicrafts. Jane painted over three hundred oil and acrylic paintings, many to be found in homes and institutions in Canada and beyond.

As a devoted Christian, friend, wife, mother and grandmother, she was loved by so many for her warm and unconditional generosity and care, without ever looking for reward, other than genuine and selfless appreciation and thanks for the joy of living. She was always wise, warm, caring and full of encouragement and creative innovation and will be missed by so many, and fondly remembered for the ways she has touched their lives.
