Lea Klara Penney (née Prilutzky), beloved wife of Richard Wescombe Penney, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2012, in Saint-Lambert, Quebec at the age of 90. Her last days were filled with love and laughter. Lea leaves behind her pride and joy, her cherished family including her husband, Richard (Dick), her children Nigel, Jonathan and Keren, her grandchildren Lauren, Meagan, George, Matthew, Jason, Dylan and Noah, her daughters-in-law June, Debbie and Sammy, her son-in-law, Pierre-André, and her sister Golda.
Lea lived a full life, raising her three children in England, Switzerland, Germany and Canada. She was a Fellow of the Institute of Linguists and a professor at Concordia University in Montreal, where she guided and inspired countless students. Her life experience and international travels fostered a deep empathy in her for people of all cultures. She was a community volunteer, giving her time and compassion for many years to such organizations as Tel-Aide. Lea was clever, sociable, cheerful, always hospitable, good company and a treasured friend and mother.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and Dr. Masson of the Résidence du Parc in Saint-Lambert for their kind and devoted care.
