Penelope (Penny) Margaret Bisgard Foster

November 21, 1946November 18, 2021

It is with heartbreaking sadness that we announce the passing of Penelope (Penny) Bisgard Foster at the age of 74.

Beloved partner of the late William King, Penny was also the cherished mother of Wendy (Godfrey), and devoted “Nannie” of Mia and Bryce. Predeceased by her only brother Kenton, she will be deeply missed by her sister-in-law Jill as well as her stepfamily from the UK: Dominic (Paula) & Eloise, Nicole (Anthony) and June.

Prior to her years working in St. Lambert as a real estate agent, Penny spent much of her career in the shipping industry as Payroll Master for Halco, where she eventually met and fell in love with her dear “Willi”. Penny’s greatest joy came from being an amazing mother and grandmother but also neighbor and friend to so many who knew and loved her. Her absence will be felt deeply by many, but particularly her long-time friends Carole, Lou-Anne, Betty-Anne, Madeline and Anne. Penny will also be sadly missed by her circle of dear friends from Maxville, Ontario.

Visitation will be held with the family at Collins Clarke MacGillivray White Funeral Home (307, Riverside, Saint-Lambert) on Friday December 3rd from 6-9pm and Saturday December 4th from 1-4pm, followed by a chapel service starting at 4pm. Live and recorded webcast of the service will be available at the following link:

* A small memorial gathering in celebration of Penny’s life will be planned in Maxville next spring. Donations in Penny’s honor can be made to: Canadian Cancer Society or Canadian Lung Association

Penny was married to my brother Clifton, once I met Penny she was the kindest, most generous person that I ever met. Not just her either, Wendy is a carbon copy of her Mother, Penny. Both Wendy and Penny have been there for me several times and I can't thank them enough. God bless you all. Thank you all.

Anyone who grew up in Otterburn knew Penny. She was fun, kind and a ray of sunshine. Even though she was several years older than myself, and a close friend to my cousin, Carole, I have known her over the years and looked after Wendy (after school) when Penny was working. All our parents knew each other as well. She and I were in Carole's wedding party. Later I would see her when I visited Carole and we all had tea and laughs together.
Bob and I send our heartfelt sympathy to Wendy and family. We are very sorry for your loss and that of all who were lucky enough to know her. Sue (nee Raddon) and Bob Thompson

My friendship and memories with Penny span a lifetime. We started school together, bridesmaids at each others weddings, laughed together, cried together, sipped tea together while little Wendy slept on the sofa lulled by our chatting…we shared our hopes, dreams, and our ambitions. A dear friend forever, may she Rest in Eternal Peace.
My deepest sympathies to her family.

Sending our condolences to you Wendy and the family. Many fond memories with your mom and bill at the farm. We always kept in touch . As a matter of fact we’ll plant some scarlet runners in her memory in the summer. She was such a beautiful person.

Penny and I only just connected on Facebook a few months ago she had so much to give and was too young to pass. Sincere condolences to her family, having lost my wife six years ago I can appreciate what they are going through. Prayers are offered to give you all strength.

We met Penny when we moved into her neighbourhood, and it immediately felt like we had been friends for a very long time!
I loved to be with her and talk about random things!
One such episode is, for example, last summer, she would tell me how much she loved her family as we watched fireflies in my garden at night.
Or these times when we would stop at the other's place to share food and would easily spend 30 minutes at the door just talking about our lives!
Penny was one of the kindest persons I know: she was like a grandmother to my daughter, and she is the reason why my daughter now wants to speak English.
Even when she wanted to be firm about something, she was often too kind for this. One such example is how she would pretend not to like the bunny at her place: complain about him, wouldn't give him a name as she didn't want to get attached... However, after she gave him to us, she would often stop by to cuddle him and bring him various kinds of treats she knew he loved.
Penny, we love you: we will miss you but are also thankful that we had the chance to know you!
