To Suzane's family and friends

I met Suzane a few years ago now, when she came to present to Manitoba Engineers about Asset Management.  She grabbed my attention with her energy and bold (brave?) delivery of the intro to her presentation by signing it in Reggae style.  
We connected after her presentation and I knew she was going to be someone I'd stay in touch with.   I later became one of her recruits to the Manitoba Chapter of the IAM Branch that she initiated and built in MB, and just this past March had the honor of hosting a session where she and co-presenter shared more knowledge in the field.
Suzane and I had connected personally too,  in part for our common interests, sharing/mentoring, love of music, and she was just such a positive energy in everything she touched.    I was in utter shock to hear, and so much later, of her sudden passing this spring.  I am deeply saddened that we have lost such a lovely person so early in her life.  Her smile and energy was infectious, I will miss her!  I am so sorry for your loss from the bottom of my heart.

When starting our journey to improve Newfoundland & Labrador Hydro's Asset Management, we looked for a knowledgeable person, who would bring a thorough methodology and strong coach ability to our effort to improve. In Suzane, we obtained that and much more.  Her dedication to our organization's success in improving was outstanding.  We were looking forward to a long and fruitful relationship. Alas, it was not to be. We will certainly miss her guidance, unfailing support, and great coaching. 

Suzane had a phenomenal personality with an uncanny ability to engage others in groups and individually.  I highly enjoyed every minute we worked together. While I have lost a great colleague, I believe that I have also lost a good friend.

To Antonio, Ashanti, and Anna, as well as the rest of her extended family, I offer my heartfelt sympathy and condolences and hope your warm memories of Suzane will provide comfort during this tough time and in the future.

I was a security officer when Suzane worked at TCL in Trinidad. Suzie and I quickly became friends, we parties together but at work, she was Ms. Ali.. (Suzanne Ali) at that time. She befriended me even though  I was so far beneath her in the organization hierarchy. She was humble and encouraged me to study and I did.  Earlier this year, even though I hadn't seen her in YEARS, she took the time to help with my Masters's Thesis via Skype. She would check in to ask how it was progressing. One of my fav memory was going to her fittings and picking up the dress she wore to her wedding to Antonio, she was so excited about the dress. It was a privilege to go through that journey with her.

I have known Suzane for many years and have always been proud and impressed by her achievements and passion in what she was doing. Suzane was one of my students in an Asset Management course and we developed a course together. She was always great and fond to work with. I could first hand see her commitment and willingness to achieve something great. We would teach the course together and we got to learn from each other.  I remember the times we would discuss on Whatsapp the vision for asset management and I always commended her for what she has achieved already. Suzane is a huge loss for everyone and my prayers are with her family and loved ones.  We should all be proud of Suzane as she has made a huge contribution and impact to our asset management community.

A good person has stopped beating, a good soul soared to heaven. You will always be in our heart. Rest in peace Suzane. You were a great person, a mentor, and a blessing to many people. You will forever be missed. The wonderful moments you shared with us will forever be remembered. Rest in peace up in heaven! - Aunty Bess


Suzane was an amazing person, and shared her passion with everyone. I met her due to her work in asset management and am definitely better for it. I wish her family the best and enjoying many memories that I am sure they have, she was wonderful and a blessing.

Suzanne was fearless. Fairly new to Winnipeg, she boldly forged her career path, set up a business and organized asset management conferences inviting speakers from around the world. She brought a new vision and leadership to the asset management association in Winnipeg, elevating it to a new level. Her determination and confidence to overcome obstacles and turn them into successes continually inspired me. Shortly after setting up her business, she was getting noteworthy results. 

I first met Suzane when I received her resume while recruiting for an organization. I was impressed by her unique qualifications, and so was my client. Suzane was allowed only two provinces from which to receive job notifications. I asked her why she chose Manitoba - she wasn't sure but felt strongly led to this province. 

Finally, her love for her family inspires me. Tony,  Ashanti and Anna - you are in our prayers.

Suzane was known by many names: friend, colleague, mentor, mother, and daughter just to name a few.  We can all agree that Suzane lived her life unapologetically authentic. She was the true embodiment of the Jamaican phrase “‘We likkle but we tallawah”. From such a small corner of the world yet made a positive global impact in her field through her authentic leadership style. She has touched the lives of many through her kindness both personally and professionally by giving of herself (and talents) to others. 

Suzane will continue to touch more lives as she sleeps in peace through the many she has mentored as well as the legacy Suzane has left behind. You will be missed but always remembered my friend. Sleep in peace Suzane.


Suzane. Praying for comfort, strength, and peace for your family, firstly. I cannot imagine the void, as you were the definition of building and living one's best life.
We were a part of this already-questionable bunch of 10-12 year olds who showed up at Hampton School in September 1987 :), and I could never imagine those seven years without you there.  I know a lot of us can not. And we're certainly having a hard time imagining a world without you in it now. 
You ALWAYS got things done, ALWAYS had great ideas, even back then. ALWAYS pushed the bar a little higher. So it's no surprise that you achieved so much personally and professionally.  From what I've read here, we were all just waiting to see what you'd do next.  

I join our schoolmates in mourning you but celebrating one of our absolute stars. R.I.P.

It was lovely to hear both Judicia and Jesse reflect upon the life Suzane lived, her accomplishments and especially, the overall love they all had for each other. They spoke of her character with pride and fondness and the  beautiful bond they had filled with love .

We extend our heartfelt condolences on the passing of Suzane, it is still unbelievable.   We are part of her special Bermuda Family.  I met her at BELCO as I worked in the canteen and we became good friends along with Tony.   Our bond grew stronger and stronger as I am her precious daughter Anna’s God-Mother.   We attended “The First Church of God, North Shore, Bermuda together. 

There are many memories that we will hold onto… one sticks out about Anna, she did not like to eat.  What a journey that was…. 

Suzane accomplished a lot through the blessings of The Lord, and we know God will continue to shine upon Tony, Anna and Ashanti and the family.

When I heard about the loss of my niece, I thought, this must be a dream. I have known Susan  since she was a baby and now I am just left with the memory of her sweet smile and  the kind, dynamic personality that she possessed. The grief will be hard to get through especially knowing I recently mourn the lost of her mother being one of my favorite sisters.  I can remember the major accident that we went through as a family and at the time things looked grim. Her encouraging and vibrant presence  however, made all the difference  as she said "let's  pray for those hospitalized, have a meal and  see what the next day bring".  She was like a ray of sunshine after a storm and demonstrated that no matter how bad things got, we had to place it in God's hands, take care of ourselves and  take things one day at a time. I pray the family will do the same as the memories of the short time she stayed with us lives on. Rest in Peace my niece.

Suzane was my high school batchmate and as fate would have it we reconnected at UTECH and lived on the same Hall. Suzane was a gem, a hard worker whose presence is felt in a positive way in any environment in which she graces her presence.  She was a natural leader.

I am still in shock following the news of her passing.  My sincere condolences to her family and in particular her siblings.

Suzane, I am really sorry you had to go so soon. My deepest condolences to your family, friends, coworkers and all the other lives you have impacted. Death is never never easy, it also reminds us that we have to "live" while we can. I recall your zest for life, so it's somewhat comforting to see that you "came, saw and conquered". Girl, I love you. I miss you and I will be forever grateful that the Lord blessed me with you as a friend-sister. We clicked from the minute we met each other and having similar backgrounds and being both December girls,  cemented that friendship. You could make me laugh like no other and we were as close as ever even when we hadn't seen each other in years. Sue, my love, you became a part of my family and fit right in just as one of my sisters. I loved your drive to succeed, your can-do attitude and admired the love you had for Judicia, Janice and Jessie; Antonio, Anna and Ashanti. Your family was your world and everything you did was for them. We will all miss you my darling. We will smile when we remember your infectious laughter and we will be sad when we think of all that we have lost. Sleep well my darling and know that you are loved beyond measure.

I first met Suzane in 2015 when she attended the annual conference of PEMAC Asset Management Association of Canada. She was introduced to me by Cliff Williams who had been her instructor for the Certified Asset Management Professional program. He wanted to be sure to introduce us because he recognized that she was going places in Asset Management.
 
Every year after that Suzane played an evolving role in our conference and our association. She developed and instructed a course for it and gave presentations. She also founded the Winnipeg Chapter of our association and built it to a success through tremendous effort,  inviting and empowering others to contribute. Last year she was a sponsor of our conference for the first time having launched her own company – a tremendous achievement.

We at PEMAC have been thinking of Suzane and you, her friends and family, very much over the last several days. It is a shock and a loss to us and we understand it would be ever so much more for all of you.

         First what a wonderful woman and so accomplished  I remember Suzane's first day  of work for Veolia , makes me chuckle even now. She arrived in the dead of winter, wearing a big fuzzy coat and scarf,  I could hardly see her face.  When she removed her scarf there was that infectious smile !
  I introduced Suzane and Tony to their first social, too bad you weren't there ! She danced from one end of that hall to the other omg what fun !  There are more stories  to tell. I will miss her ! My heart felt sympathies for Tony and  family

To our dear Suzane's Family
It is difficult to find the right works to express our sincere sympathies. Losing a loved one, mother, life partner, sister, friend, colleague and beautiful community member has not been easy. The pain is felt by many. I hate that the people closest to Suzane are going through this difficult time.
Besides all of Suzane's accomplishments, she volunteered her time to serve on the Board Of Directors for her daughter's community child care centre. Her leadership was most valued and appreciated.  As quoted by another board member, "We really appreciated Suzane's decisive, intelligent approach to things".  She will be missed. 
Especially to Tony, and her sweet girls, Ashanti and Anna, my heart goes out to you today and the days to follow during this challenging time. As I say will say in French, "Bon Courage!"

Suzane was a friend and mentor to me. I first met her at IMC in 2018 when she launched her Risk-Based Asset Criticality Handbook.  I remember seeing her give the presentation on it and I immediately got in line afterwards to get the book, meet her, and get her signature in it. She had such a joyful and magnetic personality that just drew you in and I loved that about her. She helped me earn my CAMA certification with her training program and taught me more about Asset Management than anyone I know. I miss her a lot! 

I never met Suzane in person. We worked together on projects in both ISO asset management committees and The Institute of Asset Management and I enjoyed every minute of engaging with her.

As a co-worker in many projects I apperciated her intellect, her humour and her calm. Her ability to deconflict a heated debate was second to none.

For Antonio, Ashanti and Anna as well as the rest of her family and friends who knew her much better than we did can I pass on both my own condolences as well as those of the ISO/TC251 Asset management community.

My dearest niece , what a heartbreaking time in our life this has been, words alone can’t describe the magnitude of our sadness.  My most recent memory was the last time we spent with your mom enjoying birthday dinner . I can’t recall a time together when we weren’t having belly aching laughter from childhood until adulthood. While your time on earth was short the lives you’ve touched are numerous and it’s a testament to your greatness. 
You will be missed and remain forever in our hearts .

Suzan your  infectious laugh, your contagious smiles, your love for what you do, your need to close out a seminar with a song, even singing a congratulatory message to family members, (not certain your voice would make the billboard top 100) but, your passion for details, your love for family and those to whom you came in contact with had left an indelible mark on us all. 
We celebrate your life with joy, and a legacy of memories to fill a thousand years. 
Tony, Anna, Ashanti and the rest of the family I am wishing for you strength for today and hope for tomorrow. Today and always, may Suzan loving memories bring you peace, comfort, and strength.

It is perhaps  serendipitous that I jokingly called you "Red".  It was not just the colour of your hair, but symbolic of how you lived and loved all aspects of your life with passion.  You accomplished much and positively touched many on your short stay with us.  I am proud to have considered you a sister by another mister. Dear Ashanti and Anna - My deepest condolences on your personal loss. I lost my mom a couple months ago as well. I feel your pain.

A kind, humble, generous, and lovely person. Our children brought us together and it was an instant sisterly connection with Suzanne. Rest on dear sister, we miss you very much.   

This is so hard for me to write as I am still in disbelief and denial that you are gone. I was Judicia's friend so Suzanne became my big sister too. She looked out for both of us, counselled both of us, fed both of us. She was pure love and loved life.  She led by example and showed us what was possible. She was fearless brave and brilliant. Like a comet ... gone too soon

Suzane aka Mam Bear was such a special person. Her jovial spirit and zest for life are missed. When I met Suzane I was a machinist, and I assumed that was what I would be forever. Suzane saw something in me and she encouraged me to develop and grow as a professional. She hired me, coached me and included me in all aspects of the business that she was involved in. I was able to learn from someone who was driven, passionate and fearless. Suzane was and is my inspiration, and I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to learn from her. To Tony, Anna and Ashanti, I don’t have to tell you how amazing Suzane is. Words really can not explain the shock and grief that I felt and that I am still feeling hearing  of the  sudden and untimely passing of Sue.  On the first day that Sue walked  into the doors of BELCO there was an instant connection of sisterhood. Her warm and friendly personality  was so welcoming. We became good friends. We chatted in the office on numerous occasions. Simetimes just a hey how you  doing and other times in depth conversations. She shared not only herself but her family as well. You Tony we also became good friends. Then along came Anna to whom I endeared myself to her as Auntie. The memories flood my mind and space or time won't allow on this medium. Sue was and still is  a CHAMPION.  Her memory will live on in my heart as I reflect on her time here in Bermuda. To you Tony be encouraged my prayers are with you. Anna and Ashanti carry the torch on in honor of your mom.  Live on Sister Sue. Forever in our hearts.... Your Friend In Bermuda Donna.

You were so full of life, but reading through your accomplishments I realize your work here on earth have been accomplished.
