Anatoly Ginzburg passed away on June 11, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Inessa; cherished father of Yevgeny (Bethany) Ginzburg and the late Victoria (Gary) Barmak; dear grandfather to Benjamin and Sophie Barmak, and Mila and Jonah Ginzburg; dear uncle, cousin, and friend to many.
Born in Nova Maiachka, Ukraine, Anatoly was the child of Raisa and Yakov Ginzburg. He later settled in Gomel, Belarus, where he met his wife, Inessa, and where they started their family. While many knew him as a big, burly guy, not everyone knew that as a teenager in Gomel, he fenced and was a local champion. In 1990, Anatoly and his family emigrated to America, settling in St. Louis, Missouri.
Anatoly was an avid reader and an amateur historian. His son remembers, from childhood into adulthood, being incredibly impressed by the wealth of knowledge his dad possessed on pretty much every topic. He knew so much about everything, with a special emphasis on and passion for the Middle East. He and his son would engage in lengthy conversations discussing Middle Eastern history and politics.
One of Anatoly’s greatest character traits was his humor. He had the uncanny ability to make anyone laugh and feel at ease, regardless of the situation. His kind smile and magnificent mustache radiated warmth wherever he was present.
May Anatoly and his daughter, Victoria, rest in peace together.
