

Arnold (Arnie) Edwin Sumner Jr. passed away on Sunday, September 8th. He was born on March 11th, 1949 in Fitchburg, MA and grew up on his family’s dairy farm. Arnie worked for Purina for more than 30 years and moved 13 times across the country with his wife of 53 years, Andrea (Andi). He called the St. Louis area home, spending the last 25 years in Chesterfield, MO.
Arnie had an incredible love for his family and the outdoors. In recent years, he enjoyed traveling with his wife and he never missed an opportunity to visit his children and grandchildren. He came alive around his family and his energy and enthusiasm was infectious. Arnie enjoyed being outdoors whenever possible and loved to fish and work in the yard. He was incredibly hard-working and driven with tremendous passion and love for work and family.
Arnie is survived by his wife, Andi (Barenboim), daughter Carrie (Matt) Hilburn of Annapolis, MD, and sons Craig (Amy) Sumner of Avon Lake, OH and Blake (Morgan) Sumner of Clayton, NC, grandchildren Kate, Ben, and Andrew Hilburn and Jackson, Charlie, and Caroline Sumner, sisters Carole Barnicle, Nancy Chesbrough, and Cindy Sumner-Moryl and brother Ronald Sumner. He was preceded in death by his parents Arnold and Kathryn Sumner.
There will be a Graveside Service Friday, September 13th 10 AM at Beth Shalom Cemetery, 650 White Rd. Chesterfield, Missouri 63017.
