Carmela Grillo

Carmela Grillo, age 91, of Foristell, Missouri passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, April 26, 2023. Carmela was born June 21, 1931 in Licata, Sicily to the late Angelo and Angela (nee Incorvaia) Bulone. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Salvatore “Sam” Grillo.

Carmela leaves behind her loving daughters; Nunzia “Nancy” Ahrens-Burkholder, Angela (Rich) Lawton, and Doriana (Ron Martin) Grillo. She was a beloved grandmother to Ashley, Spencer, Kayla, Taylor, Isabella, Christian, and great-grandmother to La’Naya, Emerson, and Clara. Carmela will be missed by her sweet furry friends, Brutus, Drako, and Luna. She would sneak them snacks every chance she could.

Carmela and her husband, Sam moved to America in 1972. Family was everything to Carmela, she dedicated her life to just loving her family and building a beautiful life for them. Carmela worked as a seamstress in a factory in her younger years. She was also taught how to embroidery linens, and she shared these special gifts with her daughters.

A visitation for Carmela will be held Monday, May 1, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Hoffmeister South County Chapel, 1515 Lemay Ferry Road, St. Louis, MO 63125, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM. Carmela will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, Sam at Mount Hope Mausoleum, 1515 Lemay Ferry Road, St. Louis, MO 63125.
