

90 years old, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2016. Charlie was born October 8, 1925 in East St. Louis, Illinois. He served in World War II in the Merchant Marines, and married Lucille Mueller on May 7, 1949. Lucille preceded him in death after 64 years of marriage.
Charlie was the beloved father of Dr. David Campbell (Veronica), grandpa to Mark Campbell (Lizanne), Lynn Golec (Corey), and Julie Campbell; great-grandfather (pee-paw) to Grant and CJ Campbell, and Joseph and Evelynn Golec. He is survived by his loving sister Helen Hanna.
Charlie and Lucille lived in the Carondelet area for 60 years. He was known to all for his impeccably kept lawn, his dedicated membership at Carondelet United Church of Christ, and his boundless energy with an ever-ready desire to help everyone.
Charlie worked as a machinist with the railroad and in industrial testing. For more than ten years of his retirement, he volunteered as the “Director of Maintenance” at the not-for-profit health care organization created by his son. Charlie requested that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Institute for Family Medicine, 5000 Cedar Plaza Parkway, Suite 300, St. Louis, MO 63128.
Visitation will be Tuesday March 8, 2015 from 4-8 pm, with service and burial Wednesday March 9 at 11 am, both at Hoffmeister South County Chapel, 1515 Lemay Ferry Road, St. Louis MO, 63125.
