Married to Barbara Ann Brockhaus on August 13, 1955. Wonderful father of 8 children - Donald E (Lori) Brockhaus Jr, Susan M (David) Meyer, Sharon M (Michael) Pagano, Kathleen M (David) Crumbaugh, Edward W (Mary) Brockhaus, Joseph G (Carrie) Brockhaus, Timothy P (Danielle) Brockhaus and Thomas F (Tricia) Brockhaus. Adoring grandfather of 23 and great-grandfather of 25! Dad was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, uncle, and friend to many.
Born on January 6, 1935, the only son of Edward and May Brockhaus and the youngest of three children, having two sisters Kate Mueller and Margie Trokey. Graduated from St Mary’s High School in 1953. Married the love of his life, Barbara Ann in 1955 and started their wonderful family that is currently at 77, with 3 more great-grandchildren on the way. Dad loved Mom and his family, and these were the most important things to him!
Dad loved music, and played the drums in a band while in high school. He served in the Navy, worked several jobs early in life, and loved being a fireman. However, he needed to support his growing family and was so happy to get a job with Anheuser-Busch, where he ultimately retired.
In retirement, he loved watching old war movies, and bird-watching with Mom. But most of all, Dad and Mom enjoyed spending time with and watching their family grow. They attended special occasions, family vacations, summer barbecues, and those weekend dinners playing cards, dominoes, and board games. They had a lot of fun! And they set an amazing example of what a marriage should be.
Dad loved the Catholic Church, and having a strong faith was very important to him. He was so devoted to his prayer life, praying the Rosary, and watching Mass online. He was an inspiration to many. We know that Dad and Mom are now together in Heaven praying for their family.
