

Doris J. Shaw was born November 3, 1942 in Grenada Mississippi to the union of Elbert and L.V. Williams. She was the second born of seven children. She is preceded in death by both parents, her oldest sister, Genova Dunn, two brothers, Elbert (Sunny) Williams and Ray Williams and three of her grandsons, Michael Davis, Seneca Hopkins and Sean Butcher.
Doris, along with her family moved to St. Louis, MO in May of 1954. She attended Patrick Henry Elementary School and Central High School.
While in St. Louis she met and married Robert L. Hopkins and to that union they were blessed with five daughters; April Angela Walker, (Charles) Brigitte Antoinette (Richard) Ware, Crystal Audrey Oriste, Danita Avis Jackson, and Elke Aurora Hill which they raised in Bloomington, IL.
While in Bloomington, Doris began studying the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses and was baptized in February, 1968. For over 55 years she devoted her life to helping others learn about Jehovah God. She served as a Regular Pioneer, a full-time minister of the Good News for over twenty years.
In 1979 Doris moved to Edmonds, WA where she married Gayle Shaw.
The highlight of her life was her ministry. Sister Shaw enjoyed Special Metropolitan Public Witnessing and even learned French at 68 years of age and served in 2 different French congregations. She also enjoyed reading, camping trips, classic movies, and international traveling, where she made many lifelong friendships.
She passed on to her girls a love of tea parties, travel and enjoying the company of others.
In 2022 she enjoyed volunteering in the St. Louis community. She served as a Community Ambassador for WeCollab STL and as a Volunteer Ambassador for Great Rivers Greenway.
After her pancreatic cancer diagnosis in April 2023, Sister Shaw faced her illness with dignity in her own way. She is now peacefully awaiting the promised resurrection hope of everlasting life on a paradise earth.
Doris leaves siblings, Jerri Watts, Bertha Richardson and Andre Williams as well as her five daughters, ten grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren, who called her "Nana". She will be missed by a host of friends and family all over the country.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Doris' memory may be made to Worldwide Work of Jehovah's Witnesses.
