Douglas Collins Wells, Jr. a cherished son, husband, father, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend of many, went to his eternal home in heaven on August 26, 2026, at the age of 50; born on October 14, 1975. Doug was a resident of Arnold, Missouri.
Doug was the beloved son of Mary (Gary) Scherder nee Sunn and the late Douglas Wells Sr. (Paula). Grandson of the late Oscar E. and Mary Sunn and Lee and Colleen Wells. Loving brother of Martin Scherder and Dawn Wells. Husband of the late Sarah Lynn Wells nee Struttman. Cherished father of Joshua Sunn Wells, Nicholas Collins Wells, and Alexis Lynn Wells.
Loving nephew of Carol Sunn Deters, Randy and Cheryl Wells, Jerry Wells, Emily (Earl) Lankau. Beloved cousin of Nicole (Adam) Hayden, Lindy (Caleb) Ankelman, Jonelle (Adam) Wacker, Ryan (Victoria) Wells, Carrie (JW) Hooper, Paul Wells, the late Jerry Lee Wells, Zakiya, Layla, and Sierra Wells, Beverly (Nate) Ard, Gabriel Hooper, Bristol, Keelan and Leighton Ankelman, among many others. Doug enjoyed friendships with many.
Doug attended Holy Cross Lutheran School, grades 1-6; then graduated from Green Park Lutheran School. Doug spent 3 years at Lutheran High School South and graduated with his GED.
Doug played baseball, football and soccer during his school years. He was also a member of the Boy Scouts at Holy Cross. By trade, Doug was a painter and was admired for his talent and work in restoration of homes.
Doug loved music, cooking, St. Louis Blues hockey, St. Louis Cardinals baseball, fishing, billards, and constructing models. He enjoyed family celebrations and cherished his Chinese heritage.
In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Doug's life and legacy may be made to the family to entrust to his children. Please make checks payable to Mary Scherder.
Visitation will be held at Hoffmeister South County Chapel, 1515 Lemay Ferry Road, St. Louis MO 63125, on September 8, 2026 , from 10 am until time of service at 1 pm .
Interment to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery
