Edgar Schott, 87, of St. Louis passed away peacefully on December 1, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family. A retired history teacher with an enduring curiosity and gentle sense of humor, Edgar touched countless lives both in and out of the classroom.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene “Boots”, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage. Together, they built a home filled with warmth and laughter — a home that became the center of family gatherings where their grandchildren were always the stars of the show. Nothing brought Edgar more joy than spending time with his grandchildren. He was their biggest fan, always asking questions about their lives, their dreams, and their adventures.
His boundless curiosity extended far beyond his family. Edgar had a knack of making anyone feel like they were the most important person in the room by listening and asking, “And how about you?”
In his later years, Edgar developed a particular fondness for the Ameristar Casino where he could often be found, enjoying the atmosphere and playing his favorite slot machine, occasionally going with his grandchildren.
Edgar leaves behind a legacy of love, learning, and laughter. He is survived by his children Brad, Marlene (Labib) Haddad, and Bob (Tina); his cherished grandchildren Connor, Ramzi, Jack, Dahlia, and Sami; his brother Richard and a host of former students and neighbors who will remember him fondly.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the caregivers and staff at Clarendale Clayton— their kindness, warmth, and attentiveness made Edgar feel at home during his final years and their compassion will never be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Stray Rescue of St. Louis - an organization his wife loved and supported.
