Edward Mason Kemp, Jr.

Edward Mason Kemp, Jr. passed away on July 27, 2026, at West Jefferson Hospital in Marrero, Louisiana, following complications from cancer. His passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Edward was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife Debbie Bryant Kemp; His four sons, Edward Mason Kemp III, Richard John Kemp ( Amber Kemp née Riser ) , Bryan Michael Kemp, and Brad Aloysius Kemp; and his cherished grandchildren, Conner John Kemp, Lilly Elizabeth Kemp, Mason Gregory Kemp, Adalynn Quinn Kemp, and Emma Katherine-Ann Kemp.

He is also survived by his siblings, Joan Scharf, Mary Engleman, Donna Kronenberger, Karen Kemp, Janet Hayden, ( William ) David Kemp, and Jeanne Goacher, along with numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

Born and raised in Belleville, Illinois, Edward spent much of his life there before making New Orleans, Louisiana, his home for many years. He proudly joined the United States Army at a young age, serving his country with honor. Following his military service, he built a long and respected career as a tugboat captain, a profession that reflected his strength, dedication, and unwavering work ethic.

Edward found joy in the simple things in life. He loved fishing, spending time outdoors, with family and friends, and working with his hands. He loved St. louis Cardinals baseball and New Orleans Saints football, He was never afraid of hard work and was known by everyone who knew him as a dependable, hardworking man who could always be counted on. Whether helping family, friends, neighbors, or coworkers, Edward was always willing to lend a hand without hesitation.

More than anything, Edward loved his family. His quiet strength, steadfast character, and kind heart left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He will be remembered for his integrity, his resilience, and the example he set through a life of hard work, loyalty, and love.

Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.

SERVICES: Interment with Military Honors 9:30am Friday, August 7, 2026.

Please meet at Sylvan Springs Park at the corner of Boundary Lane & Sheridan Road by 9:15am. Funeral procession will form at the park for Interment with Military Honors in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

A Celebration of Life will follow at 10am at Royale Orleans 2801 Telegraph Road, St. Louis, MO 63125. A luncheon will be served at 11am. Floral tributes and condolences may be sent to this location.
