To Mrs. Alonzo's Family:

My most vivid memory of your Mom was a late humid,August day when she harvested the peaches. I would sit with her in the kitchen and peel . . .and peel...and peel. But she was fun to talk to and always made me laugh. Secretly, I was taking note of how much sugar she added, but I knew there was no way to reproduce her peach pie. She'd start a pot of coffee and before you knew it, it was supper time, and without a complaint about cooking some more, she started dinner as I started for home. When I noticed your Mom and Dad together - -always around the kitchen table - - he'd give her a compliment, and she would blush! Maybe it was because I was in the room, but I knew then that they had something very special. Somehow, without me even knowing it, she became my friend. We connected. She has always been a woman I admire and couldn't help but care about.

Our prayers are with you and yours during this difficult time.
