Florence Karfeld was born in New York City on July 6, 1933, the youngest and last surviving child of Zalman and Lena Goldberg. She grew up living above and working in the family Romanian restaurant. She also lived in California, Florida, and Missouri. She was a loving mother of three, caring, generous, and kind. She was independent, witty, outspoken, and loved to make people laugh. She enjoyed attending live theater.
Florence was a strong believer in hard work. She started young and worked until she was 79. She worked long-term in banking and as a civil servant. She was very close to her siblings, and they formed a tight-knit family. Growing up, she babysat her nieces and nephews for her seven older siblings. She took care of many of them as age and illness claimed them.
Florence is survived by her children, Judy Gravina, Jack Gravina (Gloria), and Alison Plaster (Anthony); and her eight grandchildren: Guy, Stevi, Jason, Chad, Sean, Madison, Clayton, and Carson.
