Family, I can’t believe it’s been 5 years. The memory of your father still lingers among all that knew him. I pray that you find comfort this holiday season knowing that he touched many lives and leaves a legacy you can be proud of.

I met Hamid about 20 years ago so I didn't know him as long as some as of his friends. I met him a short time before he became my son's  father-in-law but even that amount of time seemed to be way too short.
Being an ancient history buff,  I learned so much from him. He was always ready to talk about Mecca, The Rock, and of course, India.
One particular occasion I recall was that I was alone in a hotel in Atlanta and Jon tried to talk me into coming to their home and I resisted because Hamid and Les were visiting and I didn't want to interrupt. Less than two minutes later Hamid called and instructed me to go out to the parking lot and he would be there shortly. He wouldn't consider any other scenario.. He said that I was a big part of the family and I should be there. He really made me feel good and so welcome to join them.
I really believe Hamid would prefer we celebrate his life rather than mourning his passing.

Hamid and Leslie Alikhan are  long time residents of the St. Regis Apartments in the Central West End of St. Louis, MO.   They have been much loved, highly respected,  and  the best possible of neighbors.  They were always supportive of needed improvements.   As "next floor" neighbors, we will miss them very much.  Hamid and Leslie will not soon be  forgotten here  and we wish Leslie the very best as she treads the next path that life takes her.  Our deepest sympathy and condolences go to Leslie and their children and grandchildren. God be with you all!

When Hamid and Leslie lived beside me, he had exotic birds.  He would open the windows and let them have air.  We could hear them talk and my girls and Mom taught them to say, “Go Notre Dame”.  He seemed good natured about that.  What a gracious , generous man.  God loved him enough to take him peacefully.  He will be missed. 

Hamid, lovingly then called as pappa was such a loving person. When I visited Atlanta in 2010 he drove all the way for an hour to take me to saravana bhavan an indian restaurant and bought me a masala dosa. He ensured that I was taken care and was not homesick. This made me fall in love with this man who was so selfless and was concerned about me. He then invited me home and we spoke about his life in Hyderabad and how he fell in love with Leslie ❤️ he spoke about the love for pepper and Indian spices . You will surely be missed pappa since Amee was clearly daddy's daughter ❤️
