At Wild Poetry Forum, we knew Henry as a wonderfully gifted poet and a kind gentleman.  We will miss him, his kindness, and his talent.

I never met Henry.  Save through a Poetry forum, Wild.  I think we may have started on there about the same time.  And I see we are a very similar age.  I am 44 and he was the same age as my little sister.  

He wrote great poems.  That's what I want to say.  It doesn't really matter but it was great, sensitive, empathetic work.  It was intelligent and it touched a place between Henry and the world and us.  It was accomplished.  Often poets speak to themselves, but Henry spoke to others.  He knew how to build a bridge between his imagination and us with his words.  It was a big thing then.  Maybe a small thing now; but it remains behind.

He also was the kindest of reviewers.  Thought about everything he said, is how it seemed to me.  Cared.  Wanted everyone to feel valued. MADE everyone feel valued.  A proper man, with the gentle force of kindness.  My guess  is he has left that kindness behind; and is urging each one of us to pick it up.

Henry, or Heph as we knew him, will be fondly remembered and sorely missed at Wild Poetry. We loved reading his wonderful poetry and so appreciated his kind and thoughtful help in our forum. We wish his family and friends comfort.

I was deeply saddened to learn of Henry's passing. Henry was nice, smart, warm, funny and extremely personable.  He was a true mensch who will be dearly missed. Please accept my condolences.

Julie - My deepest condolences to you and your beautiful children.

Memories of Henry's true love, respect, and adoration of Julie will always warm my heart.  When I met him in college, I knew that he was intellectual, creative, funny, talented, and sweet enough to bring happiness to Julie, my dearest friend and roommate.  I remember returning to our dorm room to excitedly tell her about the tall, handsome, wonderful, perfect guy that she had to meet.  

I am so glad they had many great years and two beautiful children, Josie and Ezra.  Even though we lost touch through the years, I know that Henry always strove to be a compassionate husband, father, son, brother, and friend.   

Please accept my sympathy and love.

We were so sad to hear about Henry. As I said to you when I heard, he was a truly lovely man--sweet and smart. We all here at UMSL's MFA program missed him and looked forward to his return. He was a joy to be around, challenging and questioning and working hard. I know he adored his children--he talked about them often--and you,too. Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Aunt Inge is with us and she sends her condolences also.

We are so sad to hear of the loss of Henry.  We hope that holding each other tight and being there for each other will help us go on in a way that would make Henry proud.

Julie, I was so saddened to hear about Henry. Although I wasn't able to know Henry well I was able to talk with you during your difficult times. Such a loving and caring family. My thoughts are with you.

Dearest Henry,  we miss your warm and fun smile,  your amazing intellect,  but most of all you.  We will talk about you and keep your memories alive with Josie and Ezra's help.  Peace and comfort for you at last.
