John Michael Chivetta, 87, of Daytona Beach, Florida, dear father of Jon Chivetta, and Jeffrey (Megan) Chivetta, dear brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2022, after a long battle with dementia.
John was born on June 18, 1934, to the late Anthony Joseph Chivetta and Antonette (Nettie) Chivetta (nee Piazza) in St. Louis, Missouri.
John graduated from De Andreis High School in St. Louis, Missouri. He was awarded a scholarship to study Architecture at Washington University in St. Louis. During college, John was a professional jazz musician who played in Gaslight Square clubs. He earned a BS in Civil Engineering and became a Professional Engineer after graduation. John had a long career in multiple disciplines including, civil engineering, aircraft stress analysis, home design-building and land development.
John loved to dance and shared this passion by teaching others as a ballroom dance instructor. He finished his career as a real estate broker in Florida’s Gulf Coast. A lifelong boating enthusiast, John enjoyed entertaining friends and clients aboard his boat, Grazie.
John was predeceased in death by his brother Anthony J. (Dolores) Chivetta. John is survived by his sister Antoinette, brother Dennis (Mary Lee), and former spouse and mother of his children, Joan Chivetta (nee Ferreri).
