Loving husband of Cecilia (nee Lopez) Schaffner; loving father of John Schaffner IV, Angie (Karlos Villegas) Schaffner, Ashley (Scott) McNatt, and Sadie Schaffner; dear grandfather of Emilio, Kristina, and Adrian; dear brother of Paula Reardon; our dear cousin, uncle, and friend to many.
Jay loved music especially going to hear his best friend Rich Schneider play. Jay and Rich are together again and I am so happy about that. He loved the Cardinals watching games on TV or listening on the radio. He loved BBQ ( best pork steaks around) and his beer.
Jay was very proud to serve his country in the Navy. He told stories of lifelong friendships he made and traveling around the world.
We moved to the Southside and he became a lifetime member of the VFW Post 4223. There he made more lifelong friends as well as at Mary’s Blue Ribbon.
SERVICES: A Celebration of Life is being planned. Jay will be placed in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with Military Honors.
