December 27, 1956 – July 18, 2026
(Akiva ben Tova Sheva v’Eli Motel)
John Victor Schrier, age 69, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026, in New York City after a short but brave battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving children.
Born on December 27, 1956, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Arnold and Thelma Schrier, John lived a rich and fulfilling life centered on his family, Jewish faith, career, and lifelong passions.
John grew up in St. Louis and graduated from Ladue Horton Watkins High School. A dedicated student, he earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri and a Juris Doctor (JD) and a business degree from the University of Maryland.
Throughout his distinguished professional career, John practiced law as a partner specializing in tax and asset management before joining SS&C Technologies Inc. as Director of Business Technologies, bringing over 30 years of expertise to the asset management industry.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, John possessed a vibrant zest for life and many talents. He was a true wine connoisseur who delighted in sharing his knowledge and fine wines with others. An accomplished cook, he loved preparing delicious, healthy meals for family and friends. Inheriting a love for birds from his father, John cherished his pet conure. He was also a proud Eagle Scout.
Above all, John will be remembered for his lifelong passion for magic. What began in his early childhood grew into a signature joy: he mesmerized and entertained generations of family, friends, and audiences with magic tricks and mentalism performances throughout his life.
John was the devoted father of Shelby and Trevor Schrier; father-in-law to Brett Teplitz, loving grandfather of Bella Teplitz; and dear brother of Kathy (Bill) Norman and Linda "Shifra" Newman.
