Borst, Judith C. on October 8th, Judy Borst went to her heavenly home. In 1966, Judy and her husband Bill heeded the sage of advice of poet Robert Browning and began a 50-year marital journey where she “grew old along with me.”
The couple parented three children: Mark (Patti), Michelle Hand (Tim) and Matthew. Four grandchildren followed over the next few years. Judy was a devoted mother but found an even greater joy as the Mimi of four grandchildren: Claire, Tyler and Katie Borst and Olivia Hand.
Judy loved her Catholic faith and spent 24 years as a soprano in the Annunziata choir. She was also a charter member of the Foundation for Special Education of Children.
Born in Charleston, Missouri, Judy was the first child of Alphonse and Ovaline O’Rourke. She was a sister to Joyce Ohmes (Tony), Jeanne Erwin (Robert), brother Michael O’Rourke (Ellen) and Jayna Holley (Charles). Another sister, Jann Holley (Everett) predeceased her in 1987. She received her degree from DePaul School of Nursing in 1963.
Judy was also known for her decorative skills that brightened every holiday from Valentine’s Day to Christmas. Her home was a showcase of love, color and elaborate design. She had an innate ability to make people in her company feel good and loved. Her absence has created an empty place in the lives of her family and friends. An enthusiastic Irish woman all her days she personified the old proverb, “Mothers hold their children’s hands for just a little while and their hearts forever.”
