Bonnie Schneider, born in St. Louis on November 13, 1945, passed away on July 13, 2026. Attractive, funny and spirited throughout her life, she was surrounded by love until her final breath and is already so dearly missed.
Daughter of the late Milford and Joan Soffer, she is survived by her son, Lee Schneider, sister, Susan (the late Victor) Soffer Cohn, and brother, Kirby (Jane Epstein Lavey) Soffer.
She graduated from Clayton High School and then spent some time at Mizzou. Bonnie married the late Richard Schneider, and Lee was later born in 1969. Bonnie and Lee moved to the DeMun neighborhood in 1975, where she created a lively home, often visited by a diverse group of people.
Bonnie’s compassion characterized friendships she made throughout her life. The generosity of her love was best known to her family, particularly her siblings, as well as her nieces and nephews: Scott (Mary) Cohn, Missy Cohn Hess, Alexie (Jordan) Wells, and Lindy Soffer. In later years, her love of children, many of whom knew her as "Aunt Bonbon", extended to her great nieces and nephews and to the children and grandchildren of other relatives and friends. To all who knew and loved her, her memory will forever be a blessing.
Bonnie will be celebrated on Thursday, July 23, at 10 am at a graveside memorial service at United Hebrew Cemetery, 7855 Canton Ave. in University City. Shiva will be held that evening from 4-8 PM at the Soffer Residence, 326 N. Brentwood Blvd. in Clayton.
In lieu of flowers, please remember Bonnie with a contribution in her honor to the Alzheimer's Association or the charity of your choice.
