Her late parents, Delvin and Raye (Schneider) Reiss provided a very happy and loving home and childhood for Kathy and her three brothers, Frank, the late Michael, and the late Eddie. She also enjoyed spending time with her beloved cousins and very close friends.
After earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and becoming a Registered Nurse, Kathy joined the staff at Deaconess Hospital in St. Louis. She was a natural caregiver and loved everything about being a nurse. Her other passion, children, later led her to Ranken-Jordan, where she worked tirelessly to help children make their way home from the hospital. She also took wonderful care of the children at the day care at the JCC. Eventually, Kathy left her nursing career to take care of her mother.
While not blessed with children of her own, she was a mother figure to not only relatives but also to the children of close friends, co-workers, and fellow volunteers. Her love of children also made her a wonderful aunt to Jamie Reiss, Jennifer (Jerred) Killoren, Hanna Reiss, and the late Tammy Lynn Reiss, great aunt to Sarah Lynn Reiss and Walker and Riley Killoren, and great great aunt to Valeska Larice.
As a dedicated cat mom, she showered all of her cats with endless love and affection, especially her beloved Shana Mae.
Kathy’s memory will forever be a blessing to her family and friends and she will be so dearly missed.
The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Missouri Baptist Hospital, especially ICU nurse, John, as well as Kathy’s primary care doctor, Dr. Nathan Moore, for their warmth, comfort, and care.
Following interment, Kathy will be remembered at 11:30 AM on Monday, February 9, 2026, at Chesed Shel Emeth Cemetery at Olive and Hanley in University City and continuing at her residence at 1033 Wilton Royal Dr. Apt. 302, St. Louis, MO 63146 following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in honor of Kathy’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Ranken-Jordan Hospital and Jewish Family Services in St. Louis, all organizations that were near to Kathy’s heart.
