Lawrence "Larry" Goldberg

Lawrence "Larry" Goldberg, a beloved husband, devoted father, and cherished brother, passed away on July 25, 2026, at the age of 71, after a courageous battle with Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS). Born on May 6, 1955, in St. Louis, Missouri, Larry was known for his humor and warmth to all who knew him.

Larry's life was marked by an insatiable curiosity and a passion for learning. He graduated from Boston University with a master's degree in Political Science and Government, and later earned his JD from Washington University. His dedication to education and his intellectual pursuits were evident in every conversation he had and every endeavor he undertook.

Those who had the privilege of knowing Larry will fondly remember his quick wit and sharp sense of sarcasm, which could light up any room. He had a unique ability to make others laugh, often leaving them in stitches with his clever remarks. He had the wonderful ability to make you feel heard.

A true sports enthusiast, Larry had a deep love for baseball and eagerly anticipated the excitement of March Madness each year. He was also a self-proclaimed foodie, constantly on the hunt for new culinary experiences. He would spend hours researching new places to eat and travel.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Sharon, who stood by his side throughout their years together, and his two sons, Aaron and Max, who brought immense pride and joy to his life. He also leaves behind his siblings, Steve (Leslie) and Sue, as well as his treasured nieces and nephew: Annie, Caroline (Josh), and Will, and extended family members who were an integral part of their immediate family. The family finds comfort in the wonderful memories they shared and the love that will forever bind them.

In 2015, he was diagnosed with cancer, a challenge he faced with remarkable determination, curiosity, and grace. He took an active role in his care, spending countless hours researching his disease and finding comfort in understanding every aspect of his diagnosis and treatment. He looked forward to his appointments with his oncologist, Dr. Meagan Jacoby, valuing their conversations about treatment options and the partnership they shared in his care. His strength, resilience, and unwavering commitment to facing each day with knowledge and hope were an inspiration to all who knew him.

In accordance with Larry's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held. The family appreciates the outpouring of love and support from friends and loved ones during this difficult time. A celebration of life will be held on September 4 at the Racquet Club West.
