Leo N. Yahl

Yahl, Leo N., 97, fortified with the sacraments of Holy Mother Church on July 15, 2026. Leo was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Irene (nee Grimm) Yahl and his parents Lawrence and Margaret (nee Polys) Yahl.

Leo retired from Sunset Ford after serving as a car salesman for over 33 years. He was very active at Assumption Parish, singing in the Resurrection choir, volunteering in countless ministries, serving Mass for over 40 years and was known as “The Pizza Man” during the early days of our fish frys. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, serving as a Past Grand Knight. He was in the Naval Reserve for 10 years.

Leo is survived by his children Barbara Planthold, John “Jack” (Mary Ann), Robert (Sue), and Charles “Chuck” (Kathy). He was the dear grandfather of Chris (Amanda) Brodeur, Elaine (Justin) Arft, Lissa (Jomar) Jenkins, Tim Yahl, Emily (Chris) Flippo, Jennylin (Mike) Bunnell, Drew (Nicole) Yahl, and Karley Yahl. He was also the great grandfather of Cole and Chase Brodeur, Henry, Benjamin and Penelope Arft, Maya and Alyssa Jenkins, Jaxin Yahl, Jackson and Olivia Yahl, Suzy Bunnell and the late Charlie Bunnell. Beloved brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.

Visitation at Hoffmeister South County Chapel, 1515 Lemay Ferry Road, Lemay, Missouri 63125 from 4:00-7:00 pm, on Tuesday, July 21, 2026. Funeral Mass at Assumption Catholic Church, 4725 Mattis Road, St. Louis, Missouri 63128 at 10:00 am, Wednesday, July 22, 2026. Interment will follow in Assumption Church Cemetery at same address.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Parkinson’s Research Association or St. Louis Society for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
