Leslie G. Shapiro, 79, of Saint Louis, Missouri, passed away on June 18, 2026. Born September 28, 1946, in St. Louis, Missouri, Leslie grew up in University City, and carried with her a steady devotion to family, faith, and community throughout her life.
Leslie earned an associate’s degree from St. Louis Community College, a milestone that reflected her quiet determination and the value she placed on learning and responsibility.
In 1965, Leslie married Jerry Shaprio. Together they built a life rooted in commitment and care, welcoming their children—Daryn, Jason, and later their daughter, Alyson. Leslie and Jerry remained married until Jerry’s passing in 2002, a 37 year bond marked by enduring partnership and shared devotion to their family.
A longtime member of Congregation Shaare Emeth, Leslie gave generously of her time and attention, spending many years working in the temple Sunday School office. Her presence there was steady and meaningful—an example of service expressed through reliability, warmth, and a sincere sense of purpose.
Leslie is survived by her son, Jason; her daughter, Alyson (Curt) Savoie; and her sister, Joyce (Michael) Finkelstein. She was preceded in death by her son, Daryn; and her parents, Ralph and Lillian Disman.
The family is grateful for all the caretakers that helped Leslie over the years, with a special thanks to the caretakers from St. Croix Hospice for the care they gave during her transition from this life.
A graveside funeral service will be held June 23 at 10 AM at Beth Hamedrosh Hagodol, 9125 Ladue Rd., Ladue, Mo 63124. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Jason Shapiro’s GoFundMe to Support his Transition into Assisted living at https://gofund.me/9ec146932
