Lola Mae Bird

Lola passed away at the age of 85 in Florida on June 1, 2025 after a 6 year journey with dementia disease. Lola was the heart of our home and family. She raised four children, Brian, Cindy, Ronny, Renee on Rock Creek Road in High Ridge, MO. Lola was married to her husband Roland (Ronny) for 60 years.

Up until the end Lola maintained her kindness, grace, compassion, love of family and friends, and often expressed gratitude for her loved ones. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side.

She is survived by her son Brian (Eva) Bird; daughter Cynthia (Tom) Plate; son Ronald Bird; daughter Renee Blanken; granddaughters Sara (Nick) Gebbia, Amanda (Josh) McDonald , and Kristen Bird; grandsons Troy Bird, Seth McDonald; granddaughters Abby, Amayah, Alyssa McDonald; great grandsons Dominic and Maxwell Gebbia, Killian and Rylan Acosta and sister June Mauritzen.

Ronny and Lola retired to Gamaliel, Arkansas in 1992 where Lola took great pleasure in gardening, canning their fresh vegetables and growing beautiful flowers and plants.

She loved making hand crafted nature scenes and enjoyed fishing with her husband and family. She had a love of animals, including her beloved cat Smudge who was by her side until the end.

Family history was a passion which led her to discover that her ancestors settled the same land that she raised her own children on Rock Creek Road.

She was preceded in death by husband Roland Bird; her father George Dean and mother Bertha (Pintner) Dean; her brothers William and Robert Dean, her sisters Wanita Cobb and Joan King,

daughter in law Kathy Bird and her grandsons Andrew Schneider, and Matthew Plate.

A visitation for Lola will be Wednesday June 11, 2025 from 5 pm to 7 pm at Hoffmeister South County Chapel, 1515 Lemay Ferry Road, St. Louis, Missouri 63125. The funeral services will be June 12, 2025 at 11 am in the funeral home chapel.

Lunch following the service will be held at Rich and Charlie’s 9942 Watson Road, St. Louis, MO
