Though Lucie and my Mother had only recently become friends, her beautiful kindness and zest for life leaves an imprint on our hearts forever. It was a blessing to get to know her even for a brief moment the Lord allowed us. Peace be with all of Lucie's family and close friends.

Biography

Lucie Simpkins (nee Tourikian) Corradi, 90, fortified with the sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Tuesday, June 19, 2018. Beloved wife of Maurice Corradi and the late Herman Simpkins; dear sister of Jacqueline (Benjamin) Kalhorn, Leon (Pierette) Tourikian, Jean-Louis (Rita) Tourikian, and the late Julienne (Antoine) Ounanian; dear aunt, cousin, and friend to many.

Lucie was my sister. It feels odd to speak of her in the past tense. Those of us in her circle knew that she was a devoted wife, sister, sister in law, aunt, great aunt, and great grand aunt.Who was she? Lucie was the 3rd born of 5 children and one of 3 daughters. Our father, mother, grandfather and grandmother were Armenians refugees to France in the late 1910. We grew up in a close knit, loving, and tumultuous family. After all we were 9 living under one roof. Lucie was docile and the most obedient and quiet. She made up for having been so quiet later in life. After her secondary studies, without complaining, she went to work with our father. This is where she learned her trade. She was able to grow that experience into a very successful career as a seamstress and fitter in some of the biggest department store in St.Louis. In 1955 we came to the US. She left her first love, Maurice Corradi, behind. She settled in the US and created her life. She married, her first husband, Herman Simpkins. Herman passed away in the late 80's. Lucie settled into widowhood. She continued her career, bought, a house, and traveled to visit her dispersed siblings in North America.

In the early 90's, her first love, Maurice Corradi, through the French consular services, and after 40 years, found Lucie. He was a widower. He came to St. Louis. They travelled to Las Vegas where they were married. Lucie bloomed, she had found her first love. They lived a charmed life and were truly happy. They traveled, loved each other, and as in the fairy tales, lived happily ever after.

Lucie lived to a ripe old age. She accomplished what she desired. She is now with her heavenly family, looking down at us, smiling, and watching over us.

I, and as you do, loved her.

I wish her God speed.
