Malcolm Margulis, born on April 14, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri – beloved husband of Clarisse (Corona), adored father of Leah, proud grandfather of Genesis Allen Noe, loving son of Emanuel (z”l) and Augusta (Gubin) (z”l) Margulis, brother of Patricia (Ed) Marco, brother-in-law of Rochelle (Tim) Briggs, uncle, great uncle, cousin, and dear friend to so many – passed away at Missouri Baptist Medical Center on Wednesday, July 16, 2025.
Lifelong residents of St. Louis, Malcolm and Clarisse enjoyed nearly 42 years of a loving, caring, and compassionate marriage. They were introduced through a close relative and met at a bowling alley, which was a true passion of Malcolm’s. He enjoyed recreation for several decades as an amateur bowler, participating in McDonnell-Douglas and later Boeing leagues. He bowled in several leagues with friends and colleagues. Although unable to join the military, Malcolm bowled with veterans both in work leagues and the now-defunct Jewish War Veterans league, held for many years at the Olivette Lanes. He rolled a perfect 300 game at Dick Weber Lanes in October, 1984.
Malcolm, for about 20 years, was also a regular blood donor to the American Red Cross, as long as he was able. An avid reader of mystery novels, he also frequented the St. Louis County Library. Over the last decade, he was dedicated to multiple daily walks with their dear late dog, Sarge.
Malcolm was a Boy Scout, with his father by his side. He received his degree in Physics from the Missouri School of Mines & Metallurgy (now Missouri University of Science & Technology) in Rolla and later earned a masters in Engineering Management, while working fulltime. While at Rolla, he became a founding member of the reinstated Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity, Nu Deuteron chapter, that returned to campus in the early 1960’s. He attended as many fraternity reunions throughout the years as possible.
He worked diligently as a Military Contract Estimator at McDonnell Douglas/Boeing from 1966 until his retirement 2013, enjoying the fellowship of many fine people over the decades.
Dedicated to his family, Malcolm and Clarisse adopted Leah in 1997 and built a loving and supportive family. They attended her numerous plays and band concerts throughout the years. He loved reading with Leah, and they enjoyed making their way through the Harry Potter series together. He and Leah also enjoyed playing cards, especially War.
In 2023, he became a loving grandfather to Genesis, adoring every moment spent with his grandson.
Watching sporting events, concerts, and musicals – both in-person and on TV – was a shared interest for Malcolm and Clarisse. Although his own foray as a golfer was rather brief, Malcolm loved watching golf on TV and he did so even in his last days.
His loss is felt deeply and he will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
