

Beloved husband of the late Marilyn Cantor Mishkin; dear father and father-in law of Lawrence Mishkin (Judy Teibloom) of Evanston, IL, Jeffrey Mishkin, Joanne Mishkin, Steven Mishkin of St. Louis, and Rabbi Michael Mishkin (Tamara Noble) of Port Washington, NY; dear grandfather of Matthew (Elena), Jonathan (Bella) and Daniel Mishkin, Samantha, Lauren and Jacob Mishkin, and Lily, Ben and Nathan Mishkin; great-grandfather of Ruby and Myles Mishkin; son of the late Samuel Mishkin and the late Edith Mishkin and son-in-law of the late Sol and the late Rose Cantor; dear brother of the late Celeste Kessler and the late Sally Manasse (the late Ernest); dear brother-in-law of Dr. Harvey Cantor (Francine) and the late Saunders Cantor. Special family friend of the late Martha Edmonson and Linda Tippett. Dear uncle, cousin and friend.
Marvin was born in Chicago in 1931, the third and youngest of his loving parents. He and his two older sisters had a wonderful childhood on the West Side of Chicago. Marvin attended Roosevelt College and then transferred to The University of Illinois-Chicago at Navy Pier to complete his undergraduate and Medical School, graduating in 1955. He then served in the Air Force as First Lieutenant under the Doctor Draft Law in both Cheyenne, Wyoming for two years, then one year in Alabama. He finished his training at Shriner’s Hospital and Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.
Introduced to his future bride, Marilyn Cantor, by a personal friend, they married and had four sons. He then worked as an orthopedic surgeon and founded an orthopedic practice, which later was named Metropolitan Orthopedics. He performed surgery on countless patients and had an outstanding reputation in the community. He practiced orthopedics until age 85, receiving numerous awards throughout his distinguished career.
Marvin was an avid photographer, gardener, bridge player, sports fan, and world traveler. He died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral service Tuesday, March 10 at 2:30 PM at Congregation B’nai Amoona, 324 S, Mason Road. No visitation prior to the funeral service. Interment follows at B'nai Amoona Cemetery, 930 North and South Road. Memorial contributions preferred to Congregation B'nai Amoona, Hadassah or the charity of your choice.
