Maureen Ann Regan was born June 13, 1959, to Suzanne and Michael Regan, in Detroit, Michigan. Maureen was a brilliant, vibrant and self-confident woman who, throughout her life, deeply inspired her family and all the many friends who knew her.
Maureen's brilliance was reflected in her love of mathematics, for which she had an amazing natural flair, and in her love for economics and finance, which became the fields in which she worked, rising to the level of Principal at Mercer Investments.
Maureen studied mathematics and economics at Michigan Technological University where she got her undergraduate degree in economics and engineering, University of Missouri Columbia where she obtained her Masters in economics, and the University of Rochester where she did doctoral work in economics.
Maureen loved being on the water, sail-boated expertly on Lake Michigan and Lake Superior, enjoyed and played many sports, was a fan of Seve Ballesteros and Stefi Graf, affectionately listened to all sorts of music, especially Bruce Springsteen and the Motown bands while growing up, and loved to travel, visiting many countries around the world. But most of all, she was passionate about her daughter.
Maureen is survived by her daughter Mira Elizabeth Chib, her husband Siddhartha Chib, her sister Cathy and brothers Paul, Pat and John, and several nephews and nieces.
A memorial fund in her honor celebrating her love of mathematics is to be establishedat the Forsyth School in Clayton, where her daughter goes to school.
