Michael "Mike" Daniel Hermann passed away peacefully on September 27, 2026, at Mercy Hospital St. Louis a few days after suffering a massive stroke, surrounded by his family who made sure he knew how loved he was in his final moments. Mike was the devoted husband of Geralyn Herrmann; proud father of Forrest Herrmann (Gianna); and adoring grandfather to Florence. He was a dear brother to Stephen Herrmann (Julie) and Karen Herrmann Elliott (William), and the son of the late Kurt and Abbie Herrmann. Mike was a much-loved husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many.
Along with his family, Mike's greatest joys in life were dogs, sailing in the Caribbean, flying airplanes, and browsing the stock market. Mike loved a road trip. He was never short on a map for the inevitable wrong turn.
Mike's sense of humor was second only to his generosity. He was the first person to help a neighbor or a friend. He always made sure you left his house with a full gas tank, a drink, a snack, and a $10 bill "just in case," but not before asking you three different times about the route you were taking to get to your destination.
His work ethic was unmatched. His roots began in high school wrestling before transitioning into a career at the family butcher shop, Triple H Farms. In order to spend more time with his family, Mike revisited some of his old hobbies. He worked at the airport on night shifts and at a variety of local butcher shops which enabled him to travel to attend his son’s sporting events.
Mike loved blackjack. Before having his own family, he would fly to Las Vegas with his siblings after work, play cards for the weekend, and then fly back to St. Louis on the first flight out and go straight to work at the butcher shop. Rumor has it that he was banned from multiple casinos for counting cards.
In his free time, Mike took great pleasure in cutting his lawn and washing and shining his car, with his dog Gibson alongside him.
Mike taught us that love is shown most in the small things -patience, care, and time. Mike's kindness and humility shaped everyone around him, leaving a legacy of devotion, laughter, and love that will continue for generations to come.
In honor of Mike's lifelong love of animals, the family asks that, in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be made to the APA Adoption Center (apamo.org) in his name.
